Electronic giants Sony have released information on their financials covering the months of July to September. The figures revealed that the PlayStation 4 sold 3.3 million units whilst surprisingly the PlayStation 3 sold 800,000 units. These results have helped the gaming division of Sony rise 84% compared to the previous year.
The handheld sector of the company has shown disappointing results though, with the PS Vita, PSP and PlayStation TV combining to sell 700,000 units. This isn’t great news for Sony, as this means overall Sony have made a loss of $1.22 billion over the July to September period.
The company will be hoping that the build-up to Christmas will help increase sales even further and hopefully cut the predicted net loss for the year as a whole.
